The Chesley Awards ceremony is due to start in about half an hour. However, as we understand it, no Chesley awards will be given out. This year the ASFA committee has not been able to get a ballot together in time to allow members to vote, and have the votes counted, in time for Worldcon. Consequently the ballot will be conducted after Worldcon and the winners announced online. ASFA is hoping to make personal presentations to some of the winners at other conventions during the year.
Some ASFA members are apparently rather unhappy about this, which is understandable. However, we believe that it is far better to have a well run ballot than to rush things through to meet a timescale. Hopefully ASFA will sort things out and learn from the experience.
